I will setting up a few more venues, but I do know that the Irish Pub that Yukon, Ferarri, nad I stopped at in Upperville is willing to become a stop on the run and will have a table for us if we want to do lunch. I will get in touch with the Irish Isle in Middle town in order to see if that would be able to become another stop.
I assume that the Blue Fox will be a stop since that is our "other home". I will see if I can enlist the help of the American Legion in order to become another stop, but would rather it be Griffin's... I need Yukon to make that phone call. I think that the American Legion will make the ride too short, and Griffin's is a much nicer spot.
What should the "buy in" be for this one? Who are we raising money for? I propose Team Amazing Grace be the charity, but that will definitely HAVE to go to a vote. I'm a little bias on that one... (I would also like to be able to include St. Jude's, or Give Kids the World at some point...)
Calling patched members to a vote on venue choices and charity.

I would prefer the Griffin over the Legion as well. Better ride. Plus, if we do Legions or VFWs, that may keep from getting a larger group. SOME Legions and VFWs are kinda hard asses about who they will let in.
I vote our first ride to benefit Team Amazing Grace.
So what phone call do you need me to make?

Also, that'll be four venues. Do you want to start and stop at the same place and hand out a card at the beginning and end? Gotta be at least 5 card stud right? Also, we should get a unique deck of cards.

Cheryl is looking for Childhood Cancer cards as we will not have enough time to produce cards for "Team Amazing Grace" or "IVMC" cards in this amount of time, etc... We will let you know what we find... I need at least one more Founder's vote to make it official, but there is already a family in mind for our help. Story to come later after we get the parents' permission to use his image, etc.
Going to be a good time. INVITE EVERYONE, and throw your vote!

This ride is for Seth. This will be to help a family that lives in Oregon with Stage 5 Wilms' Tumors. Grace's cancer was "Stage 1, favorable". The same cancer that Grace had. We are still looking to finalize locations and route to ride.
We are expecting a few people from east of the valley, as well as two tothree riders from Ohio. I will let you know more about that status as well.
Any ideas about sponsorships would be great. Let me know your thoughts, and remember, we have a tax id number, so businesses can officially write this off!!
Semper Fi,
VP

Ok, I just completed a dry run. Here is the breakdown.
I assumed we would cut The Griffin and add Barrel Oak Winery.
IVMC poker run approx. route times
Groves to Wolf Tone (the irish pub on 50): 25 min Wolf tone to BOW: 25 min BOW to Irish Isle: 50 min Irish Isle to Blue Fox: 30 min
So, it'll be about 2.5 - 3 hours for the whole run. If we add The Lone Oak, it would be right at 3 hours or so.
These times are taking the scenic route and going within 5mph of the speed limit. I also stopped for 1 beer and gas.
I wasn't able to find the owners at BOW, so I will shoot them an email asking if we can add them as a stop.
The Griffin would make this WAY too long of a ride for a poker run...as it is, I think we should stop at BOW or the Irish Isle to take a breather...
Chime in with your thoughts.

I agree... The Barrel Oak is the way to go, if you can lock in on... The Lone Oak is a possibility as they already have flyer, etc... If we NEED another stop, the Lone Oak is the spot to have... (especially since it's so close to the finish line, and could be easily tied into the schedule...
I also agree that this is a required ride for the members.... If there are any other issues that arise, let an officer know...

Ok, I didn't get BOW to sign up, I got the Giving Tree (which is a shop at the base of my mountain). I spoke to Nicole today and she will be happy to hand out cards for us on the 10th.
So, we will roll out of Groves at 11 and head to Wolf Tone on 50.
Wolf Tone to The Giving Tree.
Giving Tree to The Irish Isle.
Irish Isle to Blue Fox.
Sarge, are any of the other places handing out cards for us? Do we need Katie to hand out cards anywhere?

You stated that the Giving Tree would hand out cards, and we can hand out cards at the Blue Fox. The Irish Isle will need coverage, as well as Wolf Tone, unless we can gete the bartender to assist. I can get Cheryl and the kids to help out if we need it, as long as she not on the back of the bike with me...
This also means that due to the number of places, as the riders register, we will need to give them a card. That's easily done. I figure Fuzz can handle that.
Keeper will have to ensure that he meets up with Fuzz at the Blue Fox and grabs the cash. We need to at least deposit the money from the raffle. Cheryl and I will take care of sending the money to Seth's family, unless it's a check to the IVMC... Then we will need to readjust the process...
Stealth picked up raffle tickets, so we are covered there.
Our event still is not posted on the Grove's website, so I will swing through this weekend in order to check on the status of getting that posted...
There is quite a bit of logistics here, and I hope that I have everything covered. We will need to see who else at the locations can assist in handing out cards. I need to pick up quite a few decks and give 2 to each location, I have a feeling this is when we will find out who will be able to help, and who will not.
I'll keep you posted... I might do another dry run (minus the Giving Tree) to see what kind of support I can rally. I believe that after my conversation with the owner of the Irish Isle, that this location is covered.
Trust that I'm faily certain that after having a 8lbs. 13oz. baby, KT really won't feel like getting out of the house and handing out playing cards.... (to me, that seems a bit out of the box...)

Picked up all of the donated gear from Motorcycle Gadgets. Quality stuff, and they have also stated that they will have a "promo code" of sorts in order to donate 10% of the totals that people order to Team Amazing Grace.
Good people! Have a few kickstand plates, keychains, and refridgerator magnets for anyone that is interested, I figure we get first dibs on the goodies... Bwahahaha!!
(I sure do hope that with people giving things away, that this forum starts to pick up some traffic... Serious fellas?? No one uses the board anymore?)

Ok fellas, we are close. I want a roll call on here. I expect everyone to be at Groves by 9am for a quick meeting and prep for the event.
Sarge, send me the flyer again will ya? I need to get some more out there.
So…are we set for Saturday? We have enough cards? How are we getting them to the stops? Do we need anyone at any of the stops to hand out cards, or is that all covered? I know Jay at Wolf Tone and Nicole at the Giving Tree said they would hand out the cards to riders…
Last minute stuff man, what do we need to be good to go? I will write up the “announcement” that we will make to the crowd before we roll out of Groves today or tomorrow.
We are doing this rain or shine right? Or did you want to have a rain date?
I heard Fuzz will be rolling on Batwing's bike for this one...
I'll be sending an email out to everyone to remind you all. This is a BIG deal. This is our Club's first Club run SPONSORED event. Everyone is coming right? Check in!
